Water

Water is so important– we need it everyday. I heard that we can only last about three days without water. When I don’t drink enough water, I get heart palpitations so I carry a bottle of water with me wherever I go, so water really is important.

Water is mentioned in several places in the Bible. When I did a search for “Living Water,” most of the term was found in the book of John. Specifically, in John 7 it says, “On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.'” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)” (John 7:37-39, NLT).

If ordinary water is so important for us to stay alive, then how much more important is the living water for us? So many people do not have Christ so they are spiritually withered and dry– brittle and broken.  Outside they appear alive, but inside they are nothing but “dry bones.”  Jesus says, “those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life” (John 4:14, NLT). I wish everyone who heard about Jesus would come to Him so they can truly be alive.
