I am not sure how many people actually saw Nik Wallenda walk across the Grand Canyon yesterday, but he actually made it! Although walking across the Grand Canyon without a harness is an incredible feat, I think the purpose of him getting across was not for personal fame but for the glory of God.
It is true; God does have a plan for all of us (Jeremiah 29:11). God uses us in ways so that He can be known to others.
Just about the entire 22+ minutes of walking the “tight rope,” Nik kept praising Jesus and giving honor to God. The great thing is that he couldn’t be censored because it was on live TV!
I think a lot of us have been programmed to separate “church and state,” but we forget that we also have the freedom of speech. We worry about offending people who do not believe in God, but in the process we offend God Himself—“If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels” (NLT).
I hope to always make God known to others. I realize that I don’t always give a verbal witness, but perhaps my way of telling people about God is through my writing?
All glory to God for Nik Wallenda’s successful Grand Canyon crossing! May we all be as brave as he in publicly professing our love for God.
